Billy Kidd camps out until Food City tractor-trailer is full for Second Harvest

November 25, 2009

Knoxville, TN – Beginning November 27th, WIMZ and Food City will launch the 14th Annual Camping for Cans event at the Food City on the corner of Kingston Pike and N. Peters Road.  103.5 WIMZ afternoon personality Billy Kidd will be ‘camping out’ in an RV until a Food City tractor-trailer* fills with donated food.  All of the food donated during this event will be delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank on December 7th.  Individuals and businesses are encouraged to challenge each other to meet the increased demand for food in East Tennessee.

“Billy Kidd, WIMZ, and Food City hold an amazing food drive for us each year.  Their commitment to this event and Second Harvest not only brings the community together during this holiday season, but also helps those individuals and families who are hungry,” said Executive Director Elaine Streno.  “We are incredibly grateful.”

Please help those families less fortunate and give to the Second Harvest Food Bank….go see Billy Kidd as he ‘camps for cans’.

*A trailer load is approximately 20,000 pounds of food, enough for 15,000 meals.
